{"id":4561,"date":"2020-07-11T14:28:20","date_gmt":"2020-07-11T04:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=4561"},"modified":"2020-07-11T15:13:03","modified_gmt":"2020-07-11T05:13:03","slug":"thomas-gallagher-and-catherine-fennessy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=4561","title":{"rendered":"Thomas Gallagher and Catherine Fennessy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thomas Gallagher<\/strong> was born around 1800 in the townland of Derrybehagh, 2kms from the village of Feakle, County Clare, Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4428 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Feakle-map-300x87.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Feakle-map-300x87.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Feakle-map.jpg 684w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Derrybeha(gh) is a small townland of 65 acres in the parish of Feakle, Union of Scarriff, Barony of Tulla Upper, County of Clare, Province of Munster, Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>A Patrick Galiher (brother? father?) appears in the <a href=\"http:\/\/titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie\/reels\/tab\/\/004587442\/004587442_00013.pdf\">1827 Tithe Applotment Book for Derrybeha.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thomas Gallagher married <strong>Catherine &#8216;Kitty&#8217; Fennessy<\/strong> around 1820 in the catholic church near or in Feakle, Clare.<\/p>\n<p><em>Catherine may be the daughter of James Fennessy and Sarah Tuohy, which would make Catherine&#8217;s son Patrick (below) first cousins with his wife Bridget Fennessy (daughter of Edmond Fennessy).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The couple had at least four children together &#8211;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=4382\"><strong>Patrick<\/strong> <\/a>born 1821 Derrybeha died 1902 Bauroe, Feakle. He married Bridget Fennessy ca 1858 in Feakle and had eight children, most of which immigrated to Australia.<br \/>\nPatrick appears in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.nationalarchives.ie\/reels\/nai000485560\/\">1901 census<\/a> for Derrybeha living with his son Patrick and next near door to his brother Thomas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anne<\/strong> born 1834 Derrybeha, baptised 4 Oct 1834 Kilnoe, Clare.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bridget<\/strong> born 1836 Derrybeha, baptised Dec 1836 Kilnoe, Clare.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thomas<\/strong> born 1838 Derrybeha, married Johanna Hayes.<br \/>\nThomas and Johanna appear in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.nationalarchives.ie\/reels\/nai000485561\/\">1901 census<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.nationalarchives.ie\/reels\/nai001797774\/\">1911 census<\/a> records for Derrybeha.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In 1878 Patrick appears in the Dog Registration books, with his residence given as Derrybeha.
