He was the son of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=6031\">William White (b 1705) and Mary Cockey (b 1701).<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6010\" style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/St-Andrews-Wheatfield-Oxfordshire-England.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6010\" class=\" wp-image-6010\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/St-Andrews-Wheatfield-Oxfordshire-England.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/St-Andrews-Wheatfield-Oxfordshire-England.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/St-Andrews-Wheatfield-Oxfordshire-England-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6010\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St Andrews, Wheatfield, Oxfordshire<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Charles was baptised on 22 November 1725 at St Andrews, Wheatfield.<\/p>\n<p>Charles was one of three children born to William and Mary.<\/p>\n<p>Wheatfield\u00a0is a\u00a0civil parish\u00a0and\u00a0deserted medieval village\u00a0about 4 miles (6.4\u00a0km) south of\u00a0Thame\u00a0in\u00a0Oxfordshire.<\/p>\n<p>Few of Wheatfield&#8217;s buildings remain today except the Church of England parish church of Saint Andrew, the former rectory and the former outbuildings of the no-longer-standing manor house. The 1801 Census recorded 89 inhabitants and the 1831 Census recorded 105. In 1784, poor children in Wheatfield were reported to be\u00a0&#8220;schooled by a weekly donation&#8221;. <sup id=\"cite_ref-FOOTNOTELobel1969263\u2013273_2-58\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>A\u00a0Sunday school was started in 1790, and restarted in 1824.<\/p>\n<p>Charles was a tenant farmer like his father in Towersey and Chalford.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 22 Charles married <strong>Jane Cooper<\/strong> by license, on 9 May 1747 at St Peter and St Paul, Aston Rowant. Charles and Jane lived at Towersey, where the first two children were baptised, and then may have moved to Chalford by 1754.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Thomas b 1747 Towersey d 1834 Oakley. Marr Sarah Wall. 11 children.<\/li>\n<li>John b 1757 baptised &amp; buried 1757 Aston Rowant<\/li>\n<li>Charles b 1757 d 1825 Chalford<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Charles junior&#8217;s headstone at Aston Rowant states he is buried (9 April 1825) with his brother Eden. The owner of the land is William Lowndes &#8211; Stone, Esquire.
