He was one of seven children born to the couple.<\/p>\n<p>Wotton Underwood\u00a0is a village and\u00a0civil parish\u00a0in the\u00a0Aylesbury Vale\u00a0District of\u00a0Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n<p>In 1851 it contained just\u00a0 253 inhabitants. The greater part of the land is in grass, and there are about 800 acres of wood. \u00a0In old records the parish is called indifferently Ottone, Woothong, and Wooton.<\/p>\n<p>The village is small and consists chiefly of cottages, to each of which a little plot of garden-ground is attached, built about 1817, by George, Marquis of Buckingham. It is distant 7 miles north of Thame, 10 miles north west of Aylesbury, and 3 miles from Brill.<\/p>\n<div id=\"gallery-1\" class=\"gallery galleryid-7022 gallery-columns-2 gallery-size-large\">\n<dl class=\"gallery-item\">\n<dt class=\"gallery-icon landscape\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?attachment_id=7030\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Wotton-House-Buckinghamshire.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"181\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-7030\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd id=\"gallery-1-7030\" class=\"wp-caption-text gallery-caption\">Wotton House<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"gallery-item\">\n<dt class=\"gallery-icon landscape\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?attachment_id=7029\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Wotton-House-longshot-Buckinghamshire.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-7029\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd id=\"gallery-1-7029\" class=\"wp-caption-text gallery-caption\">Distant view of Wotton House<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>William was a carpenter by trade, in the village of Wotton Underwood, according to his son Michael&#8217;s baptism record.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 23 years William married <strong>Sarah Eggleton<\/strong> at Bicester, Oxfordshire on 5 November 1711.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Eggleton was born in 1691 in Wotton Underwood, and was baptised there at All Saints on 22 November 1691.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3317\" style=\"width: 78px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3317\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3317\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/taylor-pic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"68\" height=\"236\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3317\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tailor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sarah was one of four daughters of Michael Eggleton <em>3<\/em>,\u00a0 a taylor, (1661-1714) and Mary (b 1661). Michael was baptised on 19 January 1660, with his father named as Michael Egleton <em>2 <\/em>(baptised 26 May 1633 at All Saints, also the son of Michael Egleton <em>1<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The younger two Michael Eggleton\/Egelton&#8217;s, both tailors of Wotton Underwood, had wills proved in Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will written 6 June 1672, proved 13 July 1672, Mikill Egleton, tailor<\/li>\n<li>Will written 9 April 1713, proved 10 Sept 1714, Michael Egleton, tailor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the marriage record William Parrott was stated to be of the parish of Bicester, and Sarah was of Wotton. Married Ann White, 9 children<\/li>\n<li>Ruth b 1724 &amp; d 1724 Wotton<\/li>\n<li>Joseph b 1725 &amp; d 1727 Wotton<\/li>\n<li>James b 1728 &amp; d 1797 Wotton. Married Martha Wall, 3 children<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sadly William and Sarah lost at least three children, if not more in childhood.\u00a0 I could only find record of four of the ten surviving to adulthood and marrying.<\/p>\n<p>William wrote a will when he was aged 65 on 15 October 1753 (Buckinghamshire Will Index) and it was proved on 13 December 1766. William&#8217;s occupation was given as a yeoman farmer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7026 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/All-Saints-Wotton-Underwood-churchyard.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/>William died in November 1766 and was buried at All Saints, Wotton Underwood on 29 November 1766. The burial register states he was &#8220;William Parrott senior&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah also wrote a will, sometime after her husband&#8217;s death on 28 May 1774 at the age of 84.
