He was the son of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=8840\">John Pickering 1630-1722 and Elizabeth d 1687.<\/a>\u00a0 His baptism record has not been found.<\/p>\n<p>George was a yeoman farmer of Cropton, 10 miles from Allerston in Yorkshire according to his 1722 will.<\/p>\n<p>The village of Cropton is located on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It had a population of 330 in 1870.<\/p>\n<p>George married Elizabeth (possibly Walker) around 1670 and had seven children &#8211;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/?page_id=8803\"><strong>Jeremiah<\/strong> <\/a>born 1671 died 1732 Crosscliffe. Married Elizabeth Hovington. 7 kids.<\/li>\n<li>Elizabeth born 1672 Harwood Dale. Married John Harland 1702 Allerston.<\/li>\n<li>George born 1690 died 1722 Cropton.<\/li>\n<li>Edward born 1697 died 1722 Saltersgate<\/li>\n<li>William born 1698 died 1737 Scalby<\/li>\n<li>John born 1699 died 1722 Harwood Dale<\/li>\n<li>Thomas born and died 1700 Crosscliff<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>George&#8217;s wife Elizabeth died in August 1710 and was buried on 8 August 1810 at Allerston.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8835\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8835\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8835\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelledennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/St-Gregory-Middleton-with-Cropton-and-Lockton.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8835\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St Gregory Middleton with Cropton and Lockton<\/p><\/div>\n<p>George died in December 1722 in Cropton, and was buried at Middleton, Yorkshire on 11 December 1722.<\/p>\n<p>Georges will was probated on 26 December 1722 and in it he leaves bequests to his son Jeremiah Pickering of Blaco, daughter Elizabeth Harland and his four sons John, William George and Edward.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>George Pickering was born around 1650 in Crosscliffe, Yorkshire, England and was most likely baptised at Allerston, Yorkshire.
